I didn’t always want to be a doctor, but I was fascinated with science ever since I was exposed to it in school.  My imagination was fertilized by science fiction which I devoured.  I wrote my first short story in the ninth grade, a science fiction.

After that I was too busy studying in college, and medical school, and residency, and private practice, and raising four kids to write much.  However, I never stopped reading, especially history, mysteries such as Sherlock Holmes, and other fiction.

I was president of the Dallas Dermatologic Society, the North Texas Dermatologic Society, and the Texas Cosmetic Surgery Society.

I was the first dermatologist in Dallas to specialize in cosmetic dermatology and surgery, and was selected by “Self” magazine as one of the outstanding dermatologists in the U.S.

When my kids were on their own, I started writing again and published four books, three of which won awards. The last was a book of poetry, co-authored with my daughter, Ashley. I have finished my memoir and am writing my sixth book, a science fiction.

When I’m not seeing patients or writing, I enjoy puttering in my yard, cooking, playing poker, and reading.

I also belong to four different discussion groups where I give talks, and three writers’ clubs where I can read my work for criticism.

What I don’t like is being bored.
